Difference Between Cast Steel Valves and Forged Steel Valves

图片
Valves are an integral part of any industrial unit or system. Industrial valves are used to regulate the flow of media through a pipeline, isolate certain areas of a pipeline, check the system integrity of a unit, etc. This is why industrial valves need to be of the highest quality, leak-proof, efficient and durable.   Casting Casting is a method of producing various object by pouring liquid (molted) metal (steel), or another liquid or suspension capable of solidifying, into the mold of the required shape. The casting method is chosen primarily for products of complicated shapes, which cannot be produced by a different method or are made in complicated or expensive way (e.g., by machining or welding). After pouring the steel into the mold, the liquid steel is in immediate contact with a cold wall, which cause decreasing the temperature of the steel and its crystallization. The casting temperature, for example of carbon steel, is around 1 450 °C.   Cast steels have a ...

Zinc Die Casting of benefits include

图片
Zinc Die Casting of benefits include: Low melting point makes it an eco-friendly option High strength Quality finishes Electrical conductivity High thermal conductivity Can be cold formed Can be cast with thin walls and complex shapes You will often find medical equipment die cast parts made of zinc. Zinc castings are popular when your item is a patient-facing device that needs an attractive painted or plated finish, since zinc provides a very smooth surface to work on and can be plated easier than aluminum die castings. You can also easily make very thin-walled parts with zinc, which is critical when weight is an important factor in a specific application.Possibly the easiest alloy to die cast, Zinc is often used in electronics, computing and telecommunications.   Magnesium Die Casting of benefits including: Excellent dimensional stability Recyclable Impact resistant High strength-to-weight ratio Thin wall capability for large components Can withstand high temperatures EMI/RFI shi...

Which Metals Are The Most Popular Choices for The Die Casting Industry?

图片
Similar to Sand Casting, die casting is another popular metal fabrication method. While these processes share a common goal, their individual machinations drastically differ. When starting a die casting project, there are many metals and alloys available. Each alloy has unique physical properties that are beneficial for different applications. The most commonly used die casting metals are listed below. Zinc, aluminum and magnesium.Options such as brass, copper, lead and tin are also used, but due to their special status, are more often used for Custom Die Casting jobs.   Aluminum Die Casting of benefits include: High strength-to-weight ratio Good hardness Easy to cast Electrically conductive Thermally conductive Recyclable High operating temperatures Aluminum is one of the most popular metals used in die casting, Lightweight and carrion-resistant. A popular choice in car production, aluminium is probably  the most prolifically used metal  in the diecasting industry, ...

What type of stainless steel is best for casting?

图片
Stainless steel has its own classification and grading. Stainless steel contains iron, carbon, chromium, and other materials. Chromium is the primary element that makes stainless steel corrosion resistant and is contained in no more than 10.5% of each unit. Depending on the availability and percentage of other materials, stainless steel can be classified into different grades. For casting purposes, we would say that grades  304 and 316 stainless steels are the best . They are both above the 300 level and both contain nickel. Therefore, make sure the stainless steel foundry you hire has 304 and 316 stainless steel available.   Stainless Steel Investment Casting Procedures 1. Prepare the pattern with wax At the beginning, you will need to prepare a replica of the final product in wax. You can use other materials, such as foam or plastic. But wax seems to be the best choice because it melts easily, which will pay off in the later casting stages. 2. Make a tree with wax patterns I...

Investment casting: the best way to cast stainless steel

Stainless steel - we see it everywhere now, from our glasses to our smartphones to complex machinery. Stainless steel is everywhere. The reason is its corrosion resistance. The investment casting process, also known as precision casting or lost-wax casting, involves the forming of a ceramic mold from a wax pattern. Wax patterns are made in the exact shape of the item to be cast. Refractory ceramic is used to coat this pattern. Once the hardened ceramic material has been turned upside down, the wax melts and drains out. Hardened ceramic shells become disposable investment molds. The molten metal is poured into the mold and allowed to cool. The metal casting is then removed from the spent mold. The process of "investing" (enclosing) a pattern with refractory materials is called investment casting. The advantages of investment casting over other molding methods include fine details and excellent surface finishes as-cast. Castings with thin walls and complex internal passageways ...

What is Die Casting?

图片
Die casting is a metal manufacturing process that involves pressing molten metal under high pressure into a reusable metal mold. Die casting creates metal parts that are dimensionally accurate, well-defined, and have a smooth or textured surface. Commonly used in the manufacturing industry, die casting is a casting process that involves forcing molten metal through the cavity of a pre-shaped mold. Base metals such as zinc, aluminum, copper, magnesium and lead are first heated until they achieve a molten state. The newly molten metal is then forced into a pre-shaped mold using pressure. Once the molten metal has cooled and hardened, it's removed from the mold. The two main die casting processes. Hot Chamber Die Casting Molten metal is forced through the cavity of a pre-shaped mold using pressure. The defining characteristic of hot-chamber die casting is that metal is heated inside the casting machine rather than a separate machine or furnace. Hot-chamber die casting is a relatively...

What do you know about die casting?

As a   Casting Supplier , I take you through die casting. Die casting is used to produce a wide range of products that can be found in almost any industry or vertical you can think of. As with any other metal manufacturing process, die cast products are only as good as the metal used in their production. The source metal will affect the overall quality, durability and aesthetic appearance of the finished product.
